I am Skilled in designing and delivering personalised, multi-sensory learning experiences tailored to meet the needs of students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and other complex needs. I have experience using a range of communication strategies (e.g., Makaton, PECS, BSL, AAC devices) to ensure all learners are supported in accessing the curriculum. My proven ability to create inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environments that promote engagement, independence, and well-being for all pupils, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and physical disabilities. I successfully adapted mainstream primary curriculum content to be accessible for pupils working at pre-formal and semi-formal levels. I have strong knowledge of positive behaviour support (PBS) strategies and de-escalation techniques to promote emotional regulation and build trusting relationships with students. I will be able to work alongside therapists and families to implement consistent, holistic behaviour support plans I have experience working closely with a wide range of professionals including speech and language therapists (SALT), occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and social workers to support individual EHCP outcomes. I am effective communicator in team settings, contributing to collaborative planning, assessments, and review meetings. I am confident in planning and delivering engaging lessons across key stages, including Early Years and Primary, as well as adult-focused content within a Preparation for Adulthood framework. I have experience integrating life skills, functional communication, and sensory exploration into lesson plans. I am fully trained and vigilant in safeguarding protocols, with experience supporting vulnerable learners in emotionally and physically safe ways. I am a dedicated and compassionate education professional with extensive experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), autism, physical disabilities, and communication needs. With a background as a Teaching Assistant at Kings Weston School in Bristol and previous experience as a Trainee Teacher at Leeds City College, I have developed a strong skill set in delivering inclusive, student-centered support to young people aged 16 25. My career journey has also included roles as a PMLD teacher, SEN Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, and Primary School Teacher. These diverse roles have strengthened my ability to adapt my approach to meet a wide range of developmental and educational needs. I have worked closely with students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and British Sign Language (BSL), supporting them in developing their communication skills and confidence. I hold relevant qualifications in education and SEN, and I am deeply committed to promoting independence, communication, and preparation for adulthood in all my learners. My teaching is driven by empathy, patience, and a strong belief that every student deserves a nurturing, respectful environment where they are empowered to thrive. I am now seeking to progress in my career within a school setting where I can contribute to a forward-thinking, inclusive team.
