About
I have spent many years teaching English courses in both the UK and internationally, most recently at Dalian University of Technology in China. I have thousands of hours' worth of classroom experience, teaching students of all levels and with differing needs, goals, and cultural and economic backgrounds. I am currently in the process of completing a Master’s degree in Education. This qualification is projected to be completed this year. I have also received a Trinity Diploma in TESOL. Beyond teaching, I have consistently delivered high-impact student support and mentoring, and have developed course content that aligns with institutional and industry standards. I have created courses tailored to learners’ needs, ranging from enhancing lessons with supplementary materials to designing and managing entire courses. This has ensured that materials are engaging, inclusive, and pedagogically sound. My experience has also involved accurate and timely assessment of written submissions, which involves having a strong awareness of how best to assess students’ capabilities in line with specified standards and criteria. My experience within the English language field has given me excellent proofreading and language skills, particularly concerning British English. I am adept at identifying language challenges that students face and providing effective support to foster development, ensuring high-quality academic outcomes. I am also comfortable handling student records, evaluating programme effectiveness, and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure seamless course delivery, address any challenges, and implement improvements for continuous program effectiveness. Additionally, I am proficient in integrating digital learning tools into course delivery. I have worked with applications such as Blackboard, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, and Turnitin, to enhance student engagement and manage courses efficiently. My daily work requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a flair for expressing complex information in a way that is both clear and engaging. I thrive on discovering what people really need, and aim to leave trainees with the feeling that they have just learned something relevant which can be applied immediately in their lives. I aim to encourage students to learn autonomously, and to take ownership of their learning process, thereby developing study skills which extend beyond the limits of the particular course they are involved with.
