The Personalised Learning College (PLC) has an exciting opportunity for a committed professional to join our team of casual staff to play a key role in supporting and shaping the futures of post 16 learners with High Needs.
About Personalised Learning College
PLC is a county-wide, person-centred programme supporting young people aged 16+ with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We offer a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that empowers learners to follow personalised pathways toward independence, employment, and community participation.
Our learners engage in meaningful activities within their local communities, develop essential life skills, and build confidence through tailored support and opportunities.
Our Three Core Pathways:
- Personal Progress - Focuses on independence, communication, and self-confidence.
- Towards Independence - Builds functional skills, personal safety awareness, and community engagement.
- Towards Employment - Prepares learners for the workplace through accredited qualifications and work experience, often leading to Supported Internships.
The Role
As a teacher, you will:
- Provide excellent teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
- Provide reports to evidence learning for EHCP reviews, ensuring the learner's voice is central.
- Supervise and coordinate the ATA and GTA support team within your sessions.
- Champion person-centred planning and ensure learners are supported to achieve their goals.
- Safeguard our vulnerable young people.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who is:
- Committed to inclusive education and learner empowerment.
- Skilled and experienced in teaching young people with SEND.
- Experienced in working with young people with EHCPs.
- Organised, proactive, and passionate about personalised learning.
- Resilient and can work in a high pressured and sometimes challenging environment.
Clearances and References
The post holder is required to a satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance. To comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education and North Yorkshire Council's recruitment policy, roles involving regulated activity require two satisfactory references: One reference must come from the current or most recent employer. If the candidate has previously worked with children, a reference should also be obtained from that employer. All references must be signed by a senior person, typically the Headteacher or Chair of Governors.

Working Hours and Weeks
The hours are Monday to Friday, 08:45 am to 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.
