What you'll do
We currently have full time and part time teaching opportunities on permanent contracts from September 2026 to support the delivery of our Functional Skills provision. You will join a large, experienced and supportive team delivering functional skills English and/or maths to 16-19 full time learners and adult part time students. Applicants should have a strong background in teaching functional skills across a range of levels and age groups. The role includes planning and teaching across varied levels, tracking and monitoring learner progress, setting targets, and marking formative and summative assessments. You will be expected to work confidently on your own initiative, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, while being fully supported by the Head of Faculty and Curriculum Manager, Digital Coaches and the Improvement and Innovation Practitioners.
What you'll bring
- A strong background in teaching Functional Skills English and/or maths, with the ability to support learners across a range of levels, ages and abilities.
- Experience of planning and delivering inclusive, engaging lessons that develop learners' confidence, English and maths skills, and achievement outcomes.
- A learner centred approach, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs and remove barriers to learning.
- Good understanding of assessment, tracking and monitoring progress to support learners in reaching their targets and qualifications.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and promoting positive learning experiences for all learners.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively.
- Confidence in maintaining accurate learner records, marking work and ensuring timely feedback.
- A collaborative approach, contributing positively to team working and sharing good practice.
- A reflective and professional attitude, with a willingness to engage in continuous improvement and professional development.
