About the Role
A specialist independent school for children with complex needs and EHCPs is seeking a dedicated and skilled Key Stage 1-2 Teacher to join their expanding team. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supported by teaching assistants and therapists, to deliver high-quality teaching tailored to each child's individual needs. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in early literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum areas
- Adapt learning to meet individual needs in line with each pupil's Pupil Support Plan (PSP)
- Maintain detailed records, observations and assessments to support progress and EHCP processes
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCO and therapy teams
- Integrate therapeutic and individual targets into daily teaching
- Build strong relationships with parents and contribute to a positive, supportive school culture
- Assist with personal care where required
- Support classroom organisation, displays and learning environments
- Participate in meetings, training and INSET to support ongoing professional development
- Uphold safeguarding, health & safety and all school policies
Essential Requirements
- QTS and equivalent teaching qualification
- Minimum 3 years' experience teaching children with special or additional needs
- Experience delivering early literacy and numeracy to pupils with SEN
- Strong understanding of best practice for children with complex needs
- Ability to plan personalised learning and adapt teaching responsively
- Confident communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Warm, caring and professional approach
Desirable
- Additional training in literacy/numeracy interventions
- Experience working within multi-professional teams
