Early Years Educator (part-time/afternoons) Position
We are now recruiting a dedicated Early Years Educator (part-time) for our bi-lingual 'Kinderhaus'. This is a native English speaker role. Kinderhaus groups at the DSL are bi-lingual, German and English, and this role works in a team and adapts to the needs of the group.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- To foster holistic development and education for children from 1 to 6 years old
- Providing a stimulating environment for all children as part of a group or individually
- Ensuring that the group and Kinderhaus is a safe and secure environment for all children
- Working with a colleague to take care of all children in bi-lingual Kinderhaus groups
- Engaging with children and groups of children during play, indoors and outdoors
- Planning activities and supporting a structured as well as creative curriculum as required
- Working in a team with one or two colleagues (Intern) to manage all aspects of the group
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times
- Parent communication ad-hoc as for structured parent evening
- Support children individually in their growth and development
- Ensure children have cared according to their individual needs
- Work in line with all school policies/regulations and be aware of responsibilities under child protection legislation
- Treating all children in a professional, polite and respectful manner
- Participating in training, staff meetings and compulsory Deutsche Schule London meetings
Requirements
- Early Years Educator NVQ Level 3 or similar qualification
- Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role
- English to native speaker standard oral and written
- Experience in an international educational setting
- Committed to the development of all children
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexible approach to working independently or as part of a team
- Maintain a calm approach in any situation (including emergencies)
- Undertakes relevant courses and ongoing professional development
- Keeping yourself updated on all school policies
- Friendly attitude, punctual, dependable and honest
- Flexible approach to working hours and location in the Kinderhaus setting
- Attend meetings as required
- Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and all necessary guidelines
