Teaching Personnel is seeking a Trainee Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Caerphilly. No previous school experience is required. We'll provide the training, guidance, and support you need to succeed.
About the RoleYou'll work within a mainstream secondary school supporting students aged 11-18, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.
You will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
As part of your role, you'll also help deliver targeted intervention sessions twice a week, using resources and strategies provided through ongoing training and support.

What You'll Be DoingProviding one-to-one and small group support to students
Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
Supporting positive behaviour and implementing individual support plans
Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Delivering structured intervention activities with guidance from experienced staff
