We are excited to offer an opportunity for two Lecturers to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, delivering high-quality learning in Maths, English, and Digital Skills across County Durham. You will be working 37 hours term-time plus 2 weeks.
This is a rewarding role where you will support adult learners at all levels, helping them build confidence, develop essential skills, and take meaningful steps towards further learning, employment, and personal growth.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?As part of the DurhamLearn Foundation Learning programme, you will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching across:
- Digital Skills
- English Functional Skills
- Maths Functional Skills
You will play a key role in inspiring learners from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are taking their first steps back into education.
This dynamic position involves:
- Delivering teaching across multiple community venues
- Supporting learners with a wide range of needs and starting points
- Delivering both informal learning and regulated qualifications up to Level 2
- Potential for online, evening, and weekend delivery
Please note: the role involves regular travel across the county and may include some physically active tasks such as setting up learning equipment and working independently before and after sessions.

WHAT WILL I NEED?You will need:
- A minimum Level 5 teaching qualification - DTLLS, CertEd or equivalent.
- A subject-specific or professional qualification at Level 3 or above (or equivalent).
- Current knowledge of the subject area.
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths, or equivalentPlease refer to the attached Person Specification for the full criteria.
If successful, you will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
