Axcis is currently recruiting for a personable, compassionate and adaptable Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 (Year 3) pupil at an inclusive special school in Sutton. The school has a fantastic support structure and offers excellent resources for all staff, supporting children with a range of SEND needs. The pupil you will be responsible for supporting presents with ASD and requires dedicated 1:1 support.
Responsibilities
- Providing dedicated 1:1 classroom support.
- Assisting the child with emotional regulation, stimulation and engagement.
- Managing challenging behaviours, including refusal to work and leaving the classroom.
- Building a positive relationship with the pupil and supporting them through their education, including transition periods.
- Helping the child manage throughout the school day.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism.
- Strong behavioural management skills and effective de escalation strategies.
- Resilience and the ability to deal with challenging and sometimes confrontational situations.
- A calm, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting students.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualifications or training (desirable).
