An established SEMH school in Bexley are seeking a dedicated Food Technology specialist to join their committed team on a full-time, temp to perm basis from September 2026 or sooner. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach and inspire students who are unable to attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons, predominantly permanent exclusion.
About the Provision
This specialist setting supports a diverse and dynamic cohort of pupils across secondary key stages. The school supports studens with SEMH needs and some other learning difficulties and it is a co educational provision. There are about 6 students per class, and an extremely supportive team, including support staff to help in every lesson on a 1:1 or general basis.
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons tailored to varying abilities
- Support students in developing essential life skills, independence and confidence
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse behavioural and educational needs
- Build strong, positive relationships to re-engage students in learning
- Work collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary team
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and/or KS4
- Experience in Alternative Provision, PRU or working with vulnerable learners (desirable)
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
