Are you interested in working with children with challenging behaviour and emotional needs? Here at Axcis Education, we are recruiting full time and part time teaching assistants to work with students aged with additional needs at a special needs secondary school in Preston (PR2).
The students have a range of special needs such as autism, ADHD and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Behaviour at this school can be challenging, so we are looking for candidates who are resilient and able to manage the demands of the classroom. The role will start as soon as possible and candidates applying must be available to work 8:30 am 3:30 pm, Monday Friday.
Responsibilities
- Work with pupils in a range of lessons and support the classroom teacher in the delivery of engaging activities.
- Assist with the implementation of individualised learning plans and support strategies for pupils with special educational needs.
- Provide a positive and supportive learning environment for all students, following safeguarding and welfare policies.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records and communicate with teachers and support staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong communication skills, empathy and patience.
- An Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Relevant experience or a relevant qualification (e.g., psychology).
- A genuine desire to make a difference in young people's lives.
- Backgrounds such as care, coaching, youth work or support work are also encouraged.
