Purpose of the Role
To deliver outstanding ESOL provision that enables learners from diverse communities across Birmingham to develop English language skills for employment, further study, and successful integration into life in the UK. The postholder will contribute to the College’s mission of transforming lives through learning, with a strong focus on learner progress, achievement, and positive destinations.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Learning & Assessment
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging ESOL lessons from Pre-Entry to Level 2, inclusive of Functional Skills English and Maths, aligned to College standards and Ofsted expectations.
Use innovative and inclusive teaching strategies to meet the needs of a highly diverse learner cohort.
Embed English, maths, digital skills, employability, and British values into teaching and learning.
Develop learners’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in real-life contexts relevant to living and working in Birmingham.
Use formative and summative assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching.
