About the role:
We are looking to recruit a full time Life Skills Teacher to support permanently at a Spalding based specialist provision supports young people who require an alternative pathway to mainstream education, with a strong focus on Functional Skills, personal development and preparing learners for adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adapt teaching materials and approaches to support learners who may have SEMH needs, gaps in prior learning or additional SEND requirements.
- Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation, builds confidence and celebrates small, achievable progress steps.
- Work with small groups or individual learners to provide targeted intervention, ensuring students can access and achieve accredited Functional Skills outcomes.
- Use practical, real life learning activities to help students apply Functional Skills to everyday situations, employment settings and independent living.
Pre requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status, PGCE, or an FE based teaching qualification OR significant experience delivering Functional Skills in a school, training or alternative provision setting.
- Experience teaching Functional Skills in English, Maths or core subjects, ideally to learners who require additional support, re engagement or personalised teaching methods.
- Awareness of the strategies, interventions and supportive approaches that help SEMH learners build confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
