SEND Teacher 0.6 FTE (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, trauma) Type: temp-to-perm Details: 0.6 FTE: 3 days per week Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Location Thrapston, Northants Start date: September 2026 Pay: £168.80 - £232.57 during trial period (MPS1 - MPS6 salary comparator)

Elmtree Learning Partnership opened the doors to our new site in Thrapston in September 2025 under the name Willow Tree Learning. This service is part of the wider Elementa Education Group family which operate a multi-site Alternative Learning Provision / Alternative Education Provision service and also Elmtree Grove School, an independent SEND School for primary-aged learners. Our ALP / AEP service supports primary and secondary-aged pupils with EHCPs, relating mainly to ASC, SEMH, with their main headquarters based in Weston Super Mare. The ALP / AEP operates a revolving-door offering whereby students stay at the provision for up to 18 weeks, either on a part-time basis before returning to mainstream education or attending a special school. Student places are funded by local school or local authority referral. We are recruiting a new team for the new site in Thrapston to support learners aged 5 - 14 years old (KS1, KS2 & KS3.)

We are inviting applications for the SEND Teacher role from candidates with good previous experience of having worked with and supported learners with additional needs relating to SEMH & trauma who may also have other needs relating to ASC / ASD. The preference is for previous experience in a SEND-specific setting. The ideal person will be able to act as a positive role model and deliver an alternative education curriculum. Many of the learners have not engaged in education for a significant amount of time so an individual approach for each child is necessary. If you have already had training in positive behaviour management such as Team Teach / PBM / MAPA and/or THRIVE training we would be particularly interested in hearing from you. If you have practical experience of working with children displaying challenging behaviour and are successful in your application for this post, Team Teach training will be offered free of charge and would be a requirement of the post.

This is a new role to support the new requirements for Alternative Provision providers from September 2026. Initially the role will involve curriculum content drafting & oversight and will go on to develop into outreach & offsite work.

This role is best suited to a Fully Qualified Teacher as ECT induction cannot be supported.

The working day is from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Commitment to safeguarding young people and helping them overcome difficulties
experience across either primary or secondary phases
creating exciting & engaging indiidual learner plans
experience of supporting & leading support staff teams
Experience of working with children who have had to overcome barriers and difficult situations
The ability to engage parents in supporting children at home by helping to set boundaries and managing behaviour
The desire to go through training and deliver ideas so that ideas can be implemented.
Commitment to ensuring students maximise every opportunity to achieve academically and personally
The ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

The role is intended to transfer to a permanent contract upon successful completion of the trial period (60 paid days.)
