The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Maths & Science Teacher to join a specialist school in the Lambeth area.
The provision supports pupils across Key Stage 1 - Key Stage 4 with a range of complex needs, including SEMH, Autism (ASD), trauma-related needs, and communication difficulties. The school adopts a trauma-centred therapeutic education model, recognising that positive relationships, emotional regulation, and wellbeing are fundamental to successful learning outcomes.
This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver engaging Maths and Science lessons while supporting pupils to rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and achieve meaningful qualifications.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated Maths and Science lessons for pupils with SEN
Adapt learning to meet EHCP targets and individual educational needs
Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support engagement and progress
Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary
Work collaboratively with therapists, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and support staff
Prepare pupils for GCSEs, Functional Skills, and other appropriate qualifications
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Maths and/or Science at secondary level
Experience working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or trauma-related needs
Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice
Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic education (desirable)
Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
