SpLD (Dyslexia) Specialist Teacher - High Incidence Needs Team
Location: Northumberland Local Authority
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance, Teacher's Terms and Conditions
Contract: 2 Permanent positions; 1 full time and 1 half time (0.5 fte)

We are seeking to appoint two dedicated and highly skilled SpLD Specialist Teachers to join our SpLD team within the High Incidence Needs Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively across a range of settings, supporting inclusive practice and helping every child/young person to achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As part of the SpLD Team, you will:
- Provide specialist assessment and intervention for pupils with SpLD
- Work across schools to support early identification and targeted support
- Advise schools, SENCOs, and teaching staff on effective strategies and inclusive approaches
- Contribute to statutory assessment processes and produce high-quality reports
- Deliver training and professional development to school/setting staff
- Work in partnership with families and multi-agency teams
What We're Looking For
We are looking for motivated and experienced professionals who:
- Hold a recognised SpLD qualification (e.g., Level 5/7 qualification in dyslexia or equivalent)
- Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of SpLD assessment and intervention approaches
- Have experience working with children and young people with emerging or additional needs
- Are confident in providing advice, training, and assessment support across multiple settings
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Are committed to inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
- Hold a clean driving licence and can meet the driving requirements of this peripatetic role
