About Us
Social Work provision at the School of Childhood and Social Care at the University of East London is situated within one of the most diverse and dynamic regions of the UK. Our courses are professionally accredited, practice-focused, and rooted in a strong commitment to social justice, critical thinking, and community engagement. We work closely with local authorities, practice partners, and regional organisations across East London and beyond to prepare students for the complexities of contemporary social work practice. About the Job
We are seeking a Lecturer in Social Work (0.4 FTE) to contribute to teaching, student support, and the continued development of our undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work provision. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of academics and practitioners committed to delivering high-quality, professionally relevant education. Essential skills and experience include:
- Teaching, mentoring, supervising, or assessing social work students and/or practitioners
- Professional experience across social work practice settings, with sound knowledge of contemporary practice issues
- Supporting students from diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds
- Knowledge of Social Work England professional standards and social work education requirements
- Contributing to curriculum delivery, assessment, and student support within Higher Education or practice learning environments
- Working with social work students on placement and practice learning activity
- An understanding of what roles diversity, equity, and inclusion have within social work education and practice
About You
You will be a qualified and Social Work England-registered social worker with experience in professional practice and a strong commitment to social work education. You will bring enthusiasm for teaching and supporting students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate will also have:
- A postgraduate (Masters or higher) qualification in Social Work or a related field
- Strong knowledge of contemporary issues in social work education and statutory social work practice
- Excellent communication, organisational, and collaborative working skills
- A commitment to scholarly activity and ongoing professional development
