We have an excellent opportunity to join our exceptional Construction department as a Construction and Civil Engineering Lecturer to deliver and support the growth of our Civil Engineering T Levels provision.
This role would suit someone from a Construction background who has a Civil Engineering bias as this role will be delivering on both Construction and Civil Engineering courses.
We welcome applications from both experienced teaching staff as well as industry professionals looking to share their skills and experience with the next generation.
It is a full time post but we are happy to consider candidates seeking part time hours.
Responsibilities
- To teach on courses specified by the management team
- Assist the management team in delivering high learning value, financially efficient programmes (including physical resource management) and lead on innovation and efficiency in the delivery of learning
- Be responsible for students' academic progress, wellbeing, behaviour management and careers and pastoral guidance throughout their learning journey
- Seek out and respond to the student voice - seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning
- Help students develop modern, safe working practices and behaviours - in both technical (vocational skills) and employability skills
- Participate actively in the enrolment, monitoring, profiling and assessment of students
- Proactively develop and promote close links with employer/industry partners
- Create enriching, effective and inspirational programmes of learning that expose students to real life work experiences - including on and off campus
- Treat students as individuals and develop personalised learning plans that drive their progress in learning, scaffold them to meet and exceed their targets and enable them to reach their career goals
- Arrange, supervise and manage students on placements, offsite visits and related activities
- Model expected behaviours, and act as a professional advocate for students, college values and departmental ethos
- Be a stakeholder in the development and promotion of positive behaviours in all students in Construction and Civil Engineering, including the implementation and promotion of regulations, policies and procedures
- Undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post

Education & Training
- Level 5 (or above) qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent industry and/or vocational experience in the subject specialism
- A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification
- GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
- GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
- A proven track record of industry practice, demonstrating personal achievement and professionalism
- Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme
- Experience in good teaching/training
- Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
- Experience of course leadership responsibilities
