Hours: Permanent, part time, 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE, some flexibility in how these hours are worked)
Salary: Band 6 (non-negotiable), £43,482 to £48,823 per annum, pro rata
About the Post
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Esports, Media Production and Broadcasting to join the School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology within the Creative Industries and Humanities subject area.
You will contribute to the planning and delivery of high-quality learning, teaching and assessment on our Esports provision, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the curriculum reflects current industry practice and emerging trends. Alongside teaching, you will engage in scholarly activity, research and/or knowledge exchange that enhances the student experience and raises the profile of the University of Suffolk.
The role also involves contributing to student recruitment, academic administration, pastoral support and cross school activities, with opportunities for course leadership and professional development over time.
About the Team
The Esports course is delivered by a specialist team with expertise spanning competitive gaming, digital media, events management, business, and emerging technologies. Teaching is informed by current industry practice and grounded in an understanding of how esports operates as a fast moving global sector.
Students are supported by staff who bring experience from esports, creative industries, sport and business, ensuring learning is both academically robust and industry relevant. The team places a strong emphasis on collaboration, reflective practice, and professional skills development, preparing students for a range of careers within esports and related digital industries.
Close working relationships across the School mean students also benefit from wider technical, creative, and academic support, helping them develop adaptable skills and confidence in a rapidly evolving field.
About You
You will bring contemporary experience of Esports and related media production or broadcasting contexts, alongside a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and an inclusive student experience.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- An appropriate postgraduate qualification (or equivalent professional experience)
- A recognised HE teaching qualification, or a commitment to achieve Fellowship of Advance HE within the required timeframe
- Current knowledge and experience of the Esports sector and its professional landscape
- The ability to engage in research, scholarship or knowledge exchange to support teaching
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
