A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Balsall Common is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available. This rewarding role is based within the school's SEN hub, supporting pupils across Early Years and Key Stage 1 with a range of additional needs.
In this role, you will provide tailored support to children with communication needs, including pupils who are non-verbal and those with autism. You will play a vital part in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and feel secure within a structured and nurturing environment. You will work closely with the SEN team, class teachers, and other support staff to ensure each child's individual needs are understood and supported effectively.

Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism and communication difficulties.
- Providing individual and small group support tailored to pupils' developmental and learning needs.
- Assisting with communication strategies, routines, and transitions throughout the school day.
- Encouraging engagement through play-based and structured learning activities appropriate to Early Years and KS1.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction using a consistent, calm approach.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other support assistants.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting young children with additional needs.
- A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting pupils with autism, speech and language needs, or non-verbal communication is highly desirable.
- A patient, understanding, and caring approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive, reliable, and flexible attitude, with availability to start after the half-term break.
