About us
Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years, located across three sites in Cressex, Downley and Studley Green. We offer the opportunity to become part of a team of caring professionals, contributing purposefully to meeting the special educational needs of children in the High Wycombe area. You will be well supported by welcoming and knowledgeable staff within a well run, hard working school which holds as its core value the wellbeing of its pupils, parents and staff.
Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years. We are currently based over three sites, and this role is based at our newest site, Studley Green. This currently consists of three classes and will be extended to four classes in September 2026. This old primary school site has recently been renovated to meet the needs of our complex cohort, including therapeutic spaces: swing room, sensory room and soft play. Each classroom benefits from their own outside area, as well as a shared adventure playground.
Therapeutic interventions are fully immersed into class timetables and our key focus areas are communication, regulation and learning for life. We benefit from both our own and consultant occupational therapists and speech and language therapists. Our therapeutic team and other external professionals work closely with our teaching teams.
As Class Teacher the successful candidate will work directly with children with complex learning, social and sensory needs. In addition, will have a strong desire to work with a challenging and rewarding group of pupils, and understand how to build positive relationships with pupils, their families and supporting professionals. Communication, regulation and life skills are at the core of our curriculum.
We strongly encourage all potential candidates to come and tour the school and speak to a member of the leadership team for more information.
