Role: Technical Lecturer – Plumbing
Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable – Various sites
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications plus a Market Supplement of up to £10,000 per annum , 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Plumbing to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group .
As a Technical Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching, Learning & Vocational Delivery – Deliver engaging, practical teaching across Plumbing programmes (Levels 1–3), equipping learners with real-world skills and supporting progression and achievement.
- Curriculum Planning & Resource Development – Plan schemes of work and differentiated lessons, creating high-quality learning resources that meet curriculum and learner needs.
- Assessment, Progress & Learner Support – Monitor attendance and progress, assess learner performance, provide feedback and implement targeted interventions to support success.
- Classroom & Workshop Management – Maintain safe, structured learning environments, manage behaviour effectively and ensure compliance with health & safety requirements in practical settings.
- Professional Practice, Collaboration & Compliance – Contribute to course development, team meetings and promotional activities, working collaboratively while upholding safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD standards.
About you:
- Qualifications, Vocational Skills & Industry Experience – Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject with Level 2 English and maths, supported by strong, up-to-date industry skills and practical experience.
- Teaching, Delivery & Learner Engagement – Ability to deliver engaging teaching across vocational areas and levels, using varied learning approaches to motivate students and support achievement.
- Assessment, Quality & Health & Safety – Knowledge of assessment and quality assurance processes, with a strong understanding and application of health and safety in practical environments.
- Communication, Organisation & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to manage workload effectively, communicate confidently and contribute positively within a team.
- Professional Values, CPD & Flexibility – Committed to continuous professional development, safeguarding and professional boundaries, with a flexible approach to work and a focus on learner success.
