Community Nursery Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Nursery nurse to work with the 0-5 Doncaster and the Stop Smoking in pregnancy team.
We are seeking to employ enthusiastic and innovative Community Nursery Nurses to support and work within the 0-5 Health Visiting Pathway. As a Community Nursery Nurse you will work with Health Visitors and our Health Promotion Practitioners to deliver the Healthy Child Programme, using evidence based tools to support our children's' development.
Applications are welcomed from candidates holding the BTEC Childhood Studies, NNEB, relevant NVQ III or diploma in Childcare and education who are proactive and enthusiastic with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and are keen to work in Doncaster. Experience of working in the community is also desirable.
Main duties of the job
- To work with the 0-5 Health Visiting team collaboratively and with other agencies and professionals to help improve the health and well being of the population.
- To facilitate groups according to identified need.
- Provide specific and routine stimulus and co-ordinated play activities in the home environment and group settings
- To co deliver the healthy child programme through sessions, groups or in the home environment
- To participate in health education and promotion particularly in relation to child health and with families where it impacts on children such as Smoking Cessation and or healthy eating

Person Specification Qualifications
- NNEB Certificate or BTEC Childhood Studies or NVQ Level iii or Diploma in Childcare and education or equivalent qualification
- Accredited Video Interaction Guidance
- Practitioner or willingness to work towards accreditation
- Evidence of child development training
- Evidence of behavioural management training
Experience
- Experience of working in the NHS in the community or hospital setting or equivalent in the private sector
- Experience of providing child health promotion packages of care
- Experience of providing healthcare, healthcare advice or health promotion advice to patients or members of the public
- Experience of working in a mental health setting/ with infants and families presenting with complex needs - including those relating to safeguarding and/or perinatal mental illness
Knowledge
- Good Knowledge of Child Development milestones
- Health Needs Assessment knowledge and principles the of health promotion e.g., weaning sessions, maternal mental health, immunisation programmes
- Identification and evaluation of evidence-based practice to deliver effective health care interventions
- Knowledge and understanding of health inequalities
- Knowledge and understanding around evidence-based tools to inform practice such as the ASQ assessment tool
- Knowledge of working with mothers experiencing mental illness
Skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and listening skills.
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work and communicate in group settings.
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with professionals / individuals from different professional backgrounds
- Well-developed interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm and ability to motivate self and others.
- Good knowledge of parenting skills strategies and play skills such as Solihull Parenting.
- Ability to work in groups, teams and independently.
- De-escalation skills and awareness.
