Opened in June 2025, the school offers a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where every child is supported to SHINE. Our personalised, autism informed curriculum develops communication, social interaction, and curiosity through rich, inclusive learning.
About the Role
Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Trimdon Hill School, Durham, TS29 6EY
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

What You'll Do
- Support children and young people with SEND, including complex needs, to access learning and achieve personal goals.
- Assist with engaging classroom, outdoor and enrichment activities tailored to individual needs.
- Provide emotional, behavioural and practical support to help pupils feel safe, valued and understood.
- Encourage independence, communication, positive relationships and social development.
Who We're Looking For
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent at Grade C/4 or above.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
