Overview
Arden College is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team immediately. We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all areas.
Arden College is situated on two sites in Southport and Banks on the North West coast of Sefton and Lancashire.
Arden is a specialist college for students aged 16-25 with autism and complex barriers to learning, working in line with the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda to promote independence skills, health, employability and community inclusion.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work alongside Tutors, supporting students with their learning and promoting their independence while establishing good relationships, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
Key Qualities and Characteristics
- Resilience - supporting vulnerable young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties.
- Communication - communicating with young people and team members to understand individual needs and to relay important information.
- Organisation - strong organisational skills to support the class teacher and students with educational activities.
- Caring - providing compassionate care to young people.
- Attentive - quickly identifying and responding to changing tasks and support needs.
Qualifications and Experience
Desired experience supporting in an education setting and Level 2 qualification; however, this is not a requirement.
All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and references covering the last three years.
