Job Overview
We are looking for Level 2 qualified swimming instructors to work in the wonderful pool facility at St Hugh's.
Schedule
The swim school operates during term time on a weekly basis. We currently have vacancies for the following time:
There is also the potential for additional work over the holiday periods as well as during school term time depending on demand. We also offer the option for you to hire the pool on Sundays 08:30 - 15:30 and bring your own clients for 1:1 lessons (subject to availability).
Course Subsidisation & Payback
St Hugh's school can subsidise your Swim England L1+2 swim teaching courses with the following terms and conditions.
There would be a 1-year payback of the course.
- If candidate fails the course, 100% paid back to the school.
- If a minimum of 231 hours (7 hours a week x 33 weeks a year) of teaching for St Hugh's school is undertaken in 1 calendar year, the full cost of the course will be paid for by St Hugh's School.
- If teaching hours are between 99 and 230 for the calendar year, then 50% of course is paid back by the candidate to St Hugh's school.
- If less than 99 hours of teaching in the calendar year, the full cost of the course will be paid back by the candidate to the school.
Pay Rates
St Hugh's School will pay the up-front costs of the course and you will get paid the following rates of pay whilst teaching on a self-employed basis between period 01.09.25 - 31.08.26:
- Level 1 - £15.75 per hour (Rising to £16 per hour from 01.09.26)
- Level 2 - £27.16 per hour (Rising to £27.80 per hour from 01.09.26)
Requirements
You will require to take out Swim England Membership which provides insurance cover for swim teachers working on a self-employed basis. You will also need to submit a monthly invoice to the school for swim teaching work completed to receive payment. It will be your responsibility to declare any income earned to the HMRC on an annual basis.
