We are currently working with a warm, inclusive and nurturing special school that provides high-quality education and care for pupils with a range of special educational needs. The school is committed to helping every child achieve their full potential in a supportive and well-structured environment.
They are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and support pupils across the school. This position starts as soon as possible on a full-time basis until July 2026. The school caters for children with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs, so having experience within a similar position is very desirable.
About the role:
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs
- Working closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver tailored learning and care
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
- Creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or transferable experience welcomed)
- Is patient, empathetic and resilient, with a genuine passion for SEN education
- Can work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and therapists
- Is proactive, reliable and committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Holds (or is willing to work towards) relevant SEN or childcare qualifications
As part of our registration process, you'll need an enhanced DBS check and we will need to see and copy your original qualifications before any placement. Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
