About the School
A special school catering for up to 120 boys and girls with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Pupils are from KS2 to KS4 and follow a suitably adapted national curriculum.
Position Overview
We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Mathematics who can inspire students and promote excellence in their learning. The post suits an enthusiastic and motivated classroom practitioner able to engage children with Specific Learning Difficulties and incorporate the school's literacy programme into mathematics lessons.
Class sizes are typically 10 to 12 pupils. Applications from ECTs are welcome, as are applications from more experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive mathematics lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Foster a creative learning environment that encourages experimentation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to enhance student understanding and achievement.
- Assess students' progress effectively through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support development.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement in line with school policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
- Participate in departmental meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events as required.
- Take on additional whole-school responsibilities, possibly including management of a form group and participation in the school's literacy programme, attending one timetabled literacy lesson per week.
- Maintain appropriate records of pupil progress and contribute to reports for annual reviews of individual pupils' EHC Plans.
