Position Overview
£30,033 - £44,076 (pro rata) per year depending on experience and qualifications. The role of steelpan teacher at Redbridge Music Service, part of Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure, based at the John Savage Centre in Hainault.
Location: Redbridge; Contract type: Part Time Permanent; Start date: September 2026; Closing date: 15th June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead steelpan ensembles at the Music School in Hainault.
- Teach steelpan in borough schools, engaging children of all abilities and needs.
- Arrange music for ensembles of varying levels.
- Initial teaching schedule: Thursdays afternoons and evenings, with potential for expansion.
- Support the musical journey of students, contributing to over 50 concerts per year.
Qualifications
- Music degree or equivalent experience.
- High level of performance on steelpan.
- Strong musical skills and effective oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of technical demands of steelpan or other instruments you can teach.
- Passion, commitment, and ability to lead ensembles of all sizes.
- Enhanced DBS checks and references required before interview.
