SEN Teaching Assistant - Full-Time, Long-Term Role (Oldham)
The Education Specialists are currently recruiting for a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist provision in Oldham. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting ASAP, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
This setting supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including complex SEND and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support students with their social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN or SEMH needs
- Be patient, resilient, and empathetic
- Be confident supporting students with additional needs and challenging behaviour
- Demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach
- Be a strong team player with good communication skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- Team Teach training or similar behaviour management experience
- Experience within a specialist or alternative provision setting
