Overview
This leading independent Catholic day school for girls () in Farnborough offers an exciting part time position for a SENCO and Head of Learning Support, 15 hours per week during Term Time plus INSET days. The role can be combined with a subject teaching role to make a full time position. Responsibilities
• Oversee an accurate SEND register and ensure evidence based admissions assessments. • Drive high quality, responsive teaching that enables all pupils to exceed baseline expectations. • Collaborate across departments to provide a clearly sequenced curriculum and parity of progression for every learner on the Learning Support Register. • Line manage the Learning Support team, monitor professional development, and coordinate departmental quality assurance. • Manage examination Access Arrangements and maintain strong working relationships with associated SEND professionals. • Design and deliver training programmes for teaching staff to support pupils with SEND at every point in their educational journey.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- NPQ for SENCOs (or NASENCO if completed before 2024); new appointees must complete the NPQ within 36 months of starting.
- Substantial experience in secondary teaching with evidence of middle or senior leadership responsibilities or a comparable whole school role.
- Expert level knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (0 25) and the Equality Act 2010.
- High emotional intelligence, resilience and the ability to manage difficult conversations with stakeholders.
- Experience teaching SEND pupils, ideally within the age group.
- Knowledge of the current JCQ Regulation and Access Arrangements provision.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Professionalism, reliability, trustworthiness and confidentiality.
- Team player with the ability to lead and take initiative.
- Ability to support and act as an ambassador for the school's Mission Statement.
- Excellent communication and motivational abilities.
- Positive, constructive attitude and reflective practice, keeping up to date with research and trends in Learning Support and teaching.
- Effective collaboration with teachers, pupils and parents.
- Contribution to the wider life of the school.
- Up to date knowledge of legislation, statutory requirements and regulatory requirements for SEND in relation to school inspections.
Salary will be based on qualifications and experience, following Farnborough Hill's generous pay scale.
