Some children don't need louder instructions. They need someone who really gets them.
If you're calm, caring, and naturally tuned into others, this could be your kind of role.
We're working with supportive schools who are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work with pupils with autism. It's about building trust, creating consistency, and helping each child feel safe enough to learn.
What your day might look like:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
- Helping children manage routines and transitions
- Using clear, simple communication to support understanding
- Creating a calm, structured environment where pupils can thrive
- Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to adapt learning
What really matters in this role:
- It's about being the one who notices the small wins.
- The one who stays patient when things feel tough.
- The one a child learns to trust.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Genuinely caring and emotionally aware
- Patient, calm, and consistent
- Understanding of autism or keen to learn more
- Confident building relationships with children who may communicate differently
- Resilient, with a positive, steady approach
Experience in SEND is great, but your attitude and empathy matter just as much.
What the school offers:
- A welcoming, supportive team who value every staff member
- Ongoing training in autism and SEND support
- Clear routines and strong leadership
- A role where your impact is felt every single day
What you'll get with Protocol Education:
- Free CPD, including autism and behaviour training
- A consultant who listens and supports you
- Opportunities in schools where support staff are truly valued
You're not "just" supporting learning.
