About Peak Homeschool Academy
Peak Homeschool Academy (PHA) is an exciting new initiative under Peak Academy, located in the heart of beautiful Montrose, Colorado. Now in its founding year, PHA is designed to provide meaningful support to homeschool families in the region by offering access to a certified teacher who will guide students in both academic learning and enrichment activities.
This innovative program serves part time homeschool students, offering up to six hours of in person instruction each week. Through a blend of core academics and hands on enrichment experiences, Peak Homeschool Academy aims to foster a nurturing, dynamic environment where students can grow intellectually, creatively, and socially - all while complementing their home based learning journey.
In a homeschool program, parents are considered the active learning provider for their child(ren).
About the Role
Peak Homeschool Academy is seeking a passionate, creative, and forward thinking Elementary Homeschool Teacher to lead a multi grade learning environment (Grades K 2). This unique teaching opportunity combines core academics, intervention in reading and math with hands on enrichment options.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a flexible, student centered environment, values curiosity and exploration, and can adapt instruction to meet the needs of a small, mixed age group of learners. Student groups and schedules will be determined by initial enrollment. Initially a K 2 and 3 5 program will be designed.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age appropriate lessons across core academic subjects: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies.
- Design and teach weekly enrichment classes, including STEM, Art, Music, and PE, that promote creativity, physical activity, and well rounded development.
- Foster a love of learning through project based, interdisciplinary, and experiential learning strategies.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs, interests, and pace.
- Utilize traditional tools like books, manipulatives and other hands on materials to support various learning styles.
- Some use of digital tools to support STEM (i.e., coding devices like Sphero's or Bee Bots)
- Assessment tools to determine gaps or placement of individual students
- Required national assessment if given electronically (grades 3, 5, 7, 9, 11)
- Opt in to state CMAS testing (grades 3 5)
- Create a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports social emotional growth.
- Track and assess student progress through observations, portfolios, and informal assessments - communicating regularly with parents/guardians.
- Organize occasional field trips, outdoor activities, or community based learning experiences.
- Encourage a growth mindset and help students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and self regulation skills.
- Work collaboratively with Peak's Student Engagement Coordinator and Principal.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
- Valid teaching credential/certification from the Colorado Department of Education with an endorsement in Elementary Education
- Experience teaching elementary grade students
- Strong background or interest in the arts, music, and/or physical education
- Passion for personalized learning and educational innovation
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Creativity, flexibility, and a growth mindset

Physical Requirements
