Summary
Advert for 2 Permanent Teaching Assistants - Level 2B: Grade 5 (SCP 6 11), 8.30am - 3.30pm each day, 32.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will plan and implement structured learning activities and provide intensive language support for individuals and groups of pupils who have difficulty accessing the curriculum due to their language needs.
They will also support children with additional educational needs, monitor pupil progress, provide feedback to the class teacher, and establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 or above qualifications
- Level 2 or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths
- Excellent language and literacy skills
- Experience working with children for whom English is an additional language
- Experience working in an Early Years Foundation Stage/Key Stage 1/Key Stage 2 environment
- Ability to plan collaboratively with teachers and implement structured language activities
- Ability to provide intensive language support to those children who have difficulty accessing the curriculum due to language needs
- Ability to complete assessments, record language levels and set clear learning targets
- Ability to forge links between home and school where home language and cultural differences are a barrier to communication
- Ability to relate well to pupils
- High expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour
- Good sense of humour and ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication, organisational and time management skills
- Commitment to developing professional skills

Salary & Hours
This position is part time, term time only. The quoted salary is full time equivalent; if successful, the salary will be paid on a pro rata basis.
