About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist college in Acton Town, supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, helping them develop independence, communication, and life skills. You will work closely with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams to provide tailored support, ensuring each student can access learning in a safe and supportive environment.
Working Hours
- Monday: 08:50 - 16:00
- Tuesday: 08:50 - 16:45
- Wednesday: 08:50 - 16:15
- Thursday: 08:50 - 16:00
- Friday: 08:50 - 16:10
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with ASD in both classroom and practical learning environments
- Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Support communication needs using a range of approaches (visual supports, PECS, Makaton)
- Encourage independence, social interaction, and life skills development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and wellbeing
About You
- Experience working with individuals with SEND, particularly ASD (preferred but not essential)
- Must be comfortable with personal care
- Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
- Willingness to learn and undertake relevant training
