I am looking for a Primary SEND Teacher for a school in South Leeds who can work with a small class of 9 high needs children ranging from autism to global delayproviding the consistency, structure, and understanding they need to thrive.
What the role really looks like:
- Adapting learning to suit each individual pupil, rather than expecting them to fit a standard approach
- Building strong, trusting relationships with children who may find that difficult
- Working closely with TAs, SENCOs, therapists, and wider support staff as part of a collaborative team
- Supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, PMLD, and a range of needs
- Recognising and celebrating every breakthrough, no matter how small
This is teaching that goes beyond the classroom - creating an environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and able to succeed in their own way.
Responsibilities:
- To take part in the school's development programme and to take an active responsibility for personal CPD
- To engage actively in the Performance Management Review process
- To ensure effective/efficient deployment of classroom support
- To be a team player, assisting and playing an active role in improving the performance and skill levels of colleagues
