We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work within a mainstream school in Swansea, supporting pupils who display challenging behaviourand require additional emotional and behavioural support to engage positively with learning.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is calm under pressure, consistent in their approach, and committed to helping pupils develop self-regulation, confidence and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with challenging behaviour
- Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviour within the classroom environment
- Use positive behaviour strategiesand de escalation techniques
- Support pupils to remain engaged in learning and access the curriculum
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a school or similar setting
- Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Understanding of behaviour as communication
- Ability to follow behaviour support plans and school policies
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with SEMH, ADHD or ASD
- Training in de escalation or behaviour management
- Previous experience in a mainstream school setting
