SEN Teaching Assistant Job - Wakefield (WF4)
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker looking for a rewarding role in Wakefield?
We are recruiting for a specialist SEN school in WF4 supporting learners aged 16-25 with autism (ASC) and complex needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young adults as they develop independence, communication, and life skills for adulthood.
Key Responsibilities - SEN Teaching Assistant
- Provide 1:1 support and small group support for students with autism and complex needs
- Support post-16 learners (ages 16-25) with EHCPs
- Assist with life skills, independence, and preparation for adulthood
- Deliver structured, sensory-based learning activities
- Support communication development using Makaton, PECS, and visual aids
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN staff
- Support with personal care where required
Requirements - SEN Teaching Assistant
- Experience working with SEN, autism (ASC), or complex needs
- Background as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, or Youth Worker
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Full-time availability (Monday-Friday)
- PMVA training or behaviour training (desirable but not essential)
