Are you an enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher with a specialism in Resistant Materials? Are you passionate about developing students' creativity, problem solving abilities, and practical skills through the design and manufacture of products using a range of materials and processes?
Elementa Support Services is working in partnership with a supportive and forward thinking secondary school in Powys to recruit a knowledgeable and committed Teacher of Design Technology (Resistant Materials). This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through engaging, hands on learning in a well equipped workshop environment.
About the Role
- Plan and deliver engaging Resistant Materials lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable where applicable)
- Develop students' practical skills in working with wood, metals, plastics, and other materials
- Teach key principles of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes
- Promote creativity, problem solving, and independent thinking through practical and theory based lessons
- Ensure safe working practices and maintain a well organised workshop environment
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well managed classroom environment
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress effectively
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times
- Contribute to departmental planning and the wider school community
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (Elementa can assist)
- Experience teaching Design Technology, specifically Resistant Materials, at secondary level (including placements)
- Strong subject knowledge including workshop processes, materials, and health & safety
- Confident classroom and workshop management skills
- Desirable:
- Experience teaching KS5 Design Technology or Engineering related courses
- A reflective and adaptable teaching approach
- A passion for practical, skills based learning and innovation
