Overview
Axcis is looking for teaching assistants to work in a special school specialising in children with Autism and complex needs. The school caters to children aged 4 to 19 and tailors its provision to each individual's needs. Three 1:1 teaching assistants are required to work with children who have exceptional special needs and may display very challenging behaviour. The role is full time, on a small group and 1:1 basis for the remainder of the academic year. Working independently and as part of a team, you will take direction from the class teacher, implement planning accurately and effectively, and rotate with the class team in small groups (2 3 children) to support the learning journey of each child.
Responsibilities
- Provide whole class support while working on a 1:1 or small group basis.
- Lead sessions with a child with exceptional SEND needs who may display challenging behaviour.
- Work independently and as part of a team, following the class teacher's planning.
- Full time hours: 8:15 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
- Start date ASAP.
Requirements
- Experience in working on a one to one basis - Essential.
- Experience with pupils who have complex ASD - Essential.
- Experience with individuals who display challenging behaviour - Essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or willingness to obtain one - Essential.
- Minimum of two good references - Essential.
