Job summary
Development and operational oversight of the Education Department Apprenticeship Centre within BCHC NHS Trust, which will support the Trust in the accreditation and assessment of a wide range of programmes and apprenticeships, including delivering Level 3 Dental Nursing, Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner, Care Certificate, Business Administration and implementation of Leadership programmes up to Level 6.
Provide operational support to the Widening Participation Agenda, managing in the areas of apprenticeship programmes across the Trust with independent training providers, colleges and HEIs for skills assessment, eligibility of apprenticeships and access of Levy. The role requires management of programme funding from the Department for Education for distribution to training providers in the support of off/on the job learning to apprentices and learners.
Work closely with the Widening Participation and Training Lead, in order to maximise opportunities for income generation and will work alongside the Clinical Education Managers to ensure that all programmes meet regulatory standards required.
Main duties of the job
1.
1. Manage the development of the Education Apprenticeship Training Centre within BCHC and ensure that all programmes accredited via this Centre meet Awarding Body standards, DfE and Ofsted as Regulatory Bodies for requirements of funding rules.
2. Ensure that satellite centres are fully supported in the ongoing accreditation of their schemes delivered primarily at Birmingham Dental Hospital and Moseley Hall Hospital and work in partnership with external providers to deliver functional skills to Trust employees where internal delivery is not possible, and report quarterly on these learners. This will be through developing processes to implement that feed into Centre compliance processes and wider Trust policies.
3. Will maintain Apprenticeship Handbook for the Trust as new policies and updates emerge from DfE, Ofsted and Awarding Bodies that forms a strategy for apprenticeship engagement.
4. Manage all programmes delivered through Centre are consistently high standard and consistently meet compliance as lead to co-ordinate and prepare for External Verifier visits and that all information is readily available for assessment.

- Manage regular the DAS portal for provider activities through scheduled meetings with stakeholders delivering provision to ensure use of Levy payment is accurate to proceed.
- Lead on Trust apprenticeship programme for implementation of learning and final assessments; including negotiation of price with external providers, colleges and Higher Education Institutes, checking of procured apprentice contracts with Salisbury Managed Procurement Services (SMPS) for accuracy and timely senior budget holder signature.
- Clearly communicate to Divisional Leads, Managers and individuals enquiring about the apprenticeship programme for confirmed eligibility of applicants' for funding in compliance with DfE Apprenticeship Funding rules and supporting all mentors/line managers who have apprentices, through conducting apprentice evaluations and ensuring managers complete end of contract process.

- Co-ordination of learning programmes that span across months/ years

- Experience of developing and obtaining accreditation for new awards/ credits
- Experience of developing and maintaining working relationships with external organisations and internal stakeholders
- Ability to plan and manage staff through use of operational processes and systems for effective management of programmes
