Job Overview
The main purpose of the job is to ensure the retention and achievement of students through the delivery of good practice in teaching and learning.
To plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching and learning in Hairdressing and Barbering, enabling learners to develop the practical skills, professional behaviours, and theoretical knowledge required to progress into employment or further training within the hair and barbering industry.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and external partners.
- Participate in meetings, training, CPD and quality assurance activities.
- Contribute to open days, enrolment events, and learner reviews where required.
Design and Delivery of Programmes
Teach on a range of courses in the Section.
Engage with employers and Stakeholders to inform the curriculum.
Arrange a range of enrichment activities for your tutor group that support the learner's curriculum
Courses offered include:
- Level 1 Hair and Beauty
- VRQ L2 Women's Hair and Men's Barbering
- VRQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Hairdressing
- Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hairdressing
- Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Hairdressing
Short courses:
- Cutting and Styling
- Barbering
Curriculum Duties
- Attend team meetings, staff meetings and College events as directed by managers.
- Keep records up to date, including the completion of registers, online Portfolios and tracking documentation, updating Markbook and student online and paper portfolios.
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure that new members of staff are fully appraised of requirements.
- Participate in the College’s staff appraisal and mentoring systems.
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
- Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
- Deliver and assess Functional Skills in maths and English.
- Integrate Functional Skills into the curriculum.
- Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
- Record and update formative and summative assessment tracking.
- Implement the School’s policies on assessment and homework.
- Participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the programme.
