We are seeking an inspiring and committed Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education to join our friendly and forward-thinking team within the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health.
Our new Innovative Interprofessional PgCert/MSc/Intercalating MSc in Clinical Education has been designed in collaboration with Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS). You will contribute primarily to teaching, assessment, and provide module leadership for our MSc in Clinical Education, as well as other allocated post graduate modules. This new interprofessional MSc in Clinical Education has been designed for Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, Midwives, Allied Health Professionals and 3rd & 4th Year Intercalating Medical Students who want to develop theoretical knowledge and professional skills in delivering clinical education. The course offers a flexible approach, across 1 to 3 years, offering face to face and online modules which use different modalities of teaching and learning. The PgCert has been accredited by the Academy of Medical Educators for accreditation plus membership as well as Advance HE Fellowship and is viewed as a formal teaching qualification. The course has a variety of assessment methods which the successful applicant will be involved in marking, assessing and moderating.
Working alongside experienced educators, our NHS partners, Primary Care Networks and Medical Deaneries, you will play an important role in shaping the next generation of interprofessional clinical educators, equipping them to meet the challenges of contemporary clinical education practice and make a real difference in providing clinical learning and teaching for medical and health care professionals.
You will be a medical doctor, registered nurse, or allied health professional (registered with GMC, NMC, HCPC or GPhC depending on your profession) with recent clinical education experience. You will have a strong understanding of current learning and teaching theories, best practice, and professional standards in delivering clinical education and its assessment.
You will bring enthusiasm for education and a genuine commitment to supporting postgraduate and intercalating medical students to reach their potential. Experience of teaching or facilitating learning, either in clinical or academic settings, is essential as is an interest in developing your academic and scholarly profile.
Essential requirements include:
- Primary Medical Qualification, Registered Nurse or Allied Health Profession qualification (registration with GMC, NMC, HCPC or GPhC or equivalent)
- Undergraduate Honours Degree in subject relevant to Profession
- MSc in clinically relevant topic (or higher)
- Postgraduate teaching qualification
- Evidence of providing different teaching and learning methods in clinical education
- Understanding theoretical principals of pedagogy, andragogy and heutagogy
Desirable attributes:
- Fellowship of Advance HE (or willingness to work towards or higher)
- Membership of Academy of Medical Educators (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience of delivering online teaching and using virtual learning platforms
- Experience in curriculum delivery, assessment, or practice education
- Interest in immersive simulation, research, quality improvement, or innovation in interprofessional education
- Module leadership experience
