The role
London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the posts of 1x Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Mental Health and 1x Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Learning Disability Nursing. The Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing courses, at London South Bank University, are ranked in the top15 courses in the UK. Our students are placed at hospitals in and across London and the South East. Our staff have a diverse range of backgrounds and foster a collaborative and supportive working environment. Alongside traditional teaching methods we strive to develop independent student learning strategies using innovative teaching methods. We believe that one of the most effective ways of supporting students to make their way in the university is in providing strong academic support.
This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to inspire the next generation of Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing students and assist them in reaching their full potential. We offer many opportunities to develop both in the classroom and beyond. To ensure every new lecturer is successful, training and scholarly activities are promoted to progress in their career.

About You:
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
• NMC qualified Mental Health Nurse (1 post) and a Registered Learning Disability Nurse (1 post). Significant experience of working in Mental Health and/or Learning Disability nursing practice is essential.
• Teaching experience either in Higher Education or in practice education: teaching qualification desirable at Lecturer but essential at Senior Lecturer.
• A good honours degree in Children’s Nursing and post graduate degree are essential.
• Be able to work autonomously and take ownership of areas of responsibility
• Ability to take a collaborative role within the department with a proven record of management skills including the ability to motivate staff.
• Able to successfully undertake the management of projects.
• Ability to work as a team member to enhance the quality of the student journey.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with significant experience of working with Mental Health/ Learning Disability patients, have a passion for teaching and bring a thorough understanding of either Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing to the department.
