As part of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue’s training team we are responsible for the logistical organisation and coordination of all operational and managerial training courses for the Fire and Rescue Service. We are a small, well respected and effective team that is vital to the smooth running of training, development and learning across the service.
About the Role
We are seeking a someone for a 4‑month temporary secondment during April – July 2026 to cover a vacancy within the training and development team in Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue. This is an ideal opportunity for someone to develop themselves into a vital role ensuring that our people have the right skills, training, and competencies that they need to perform their roles effectively.
The position has two main focuses during this period:
- Monitoring and maintaining the training and development systems (Redkite). Ensuring data accuracy, effective processes and reporting, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the service maintains its operational effectiveness.
- Overseeing our Maintenance Training and Competency Framework, you will be supported by key functional managers within the Fire and Rescue service to ensure we remain up to date and aligned to operational and national standards for training and competency.

Key Team Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for two small teams; Training Systems and Training Support, working collaboratively across the service to organise and monitor the delivery of high‑quality training that meets organisational needs.
- Provide line management and support to the Training Support Team and Training Systems Administration Team.
- Monitor the training and development systems, overseeing data input, reporting, system guidance and oversight of the system.
- Report on performance data and provide insight analysis to support the fire and rescue improvement priorities.
- Maintain the MoC Training and Competency Framework, ensuring it remains accurate, up‑to‑date and compliant.
- Support training package design, review and provide quality assurance being assisted by the Training Support Team.
- Liaise with external suppliers, assist tender processes and monitor training‑related contracts.
- Support the Watch Manager in Training Support to coordinate supervisory manager training.
About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
Essential Criteria:
- Strong leadership, with good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively at all levels within the organisation.
- Ability to interpret data and information and explain it in easy to understand terms.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and deliver to deadlines.
- A strong collaborative approach, with good self‑motivation and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new digital systems.
- A leadership and management or business management qualification (min. Level 3) or equivalent experience.
Desirable Criteria:
- A working knowledge of the Fire and Rescue’s business systems and processes.
- A full UK driving licence.
