We are seeking an Associate Lecturer to support the planning and delivery of MA Research Methods.
The lecture series is for MA Design at Camberwell and Chelsea, which consists of a range of courses: MA Graphic Design Communication, MA Designer Maker, MA Textile Design, MA Global Collaborative Design Practice, and MA Interior and Spatial Design.
The series runs at Camberwell College of Arts on Fridays from 10am-11:30am during the Autumn term only. The successful candidate will need to be available during those times (separate set of hours).
MA Research Methods features a mix of lectures from visiting academics/practitioners across UAL and delivery by the team. It introduces students to a range of areas including constructing a research question, writing a literature review, critical visualisation, data analysis, storytelling, cultural probes and more. It has been running since September 2020.
Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, and administration of the MA Research Methods series, which is a non-assessed lecture series.
We are looking for someone who is familiar with research in a design context, is comfortable working with the course lead on further developing the series, and developing and delivering lectures.
Candidates currently undertaking a PhD are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
– Interest in and familiarity with research methods (particularly within art and design, practice-based context)
– Knowledge of design theory and practice
– Knowledge Design research methods
– Designing and delivering engaging research methods curricula
– Strong organisational skills
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of team
– Experience teaching at a UG or PG level
– Experience of (or willingness to develop) teaching methods.
