Overview
Rotherham Education Services (RES) supply casual and temporary staffing to the RNN Group. The RNN Group consists of Rotherham, Dearne Valley and North Notts colleges. A Technician with Construction Skills offers a chance for you to carry out a varied role where you will help support and develop of the facilities on offer.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on assistance to staff and students in workshop sessions, ensuring the smooth delivery of programs in Joinery.
- Program Support: Actively contribute to the success of our Construction departments by offering technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance.
- Support and develop workshops: Work in our workshops and use knowledge, experience and ideas to continuously improve current processes and procedures with the potential to develop these further to create the best training facilities in South Yorkshire. Provide technical assistance and advice by taking an active role in supporting academic staff and students in all workshop activities.
- Collaborative role: The Technician will work closely with a team of Technicians within Construction and Engineering, supporting Lecturers, Curriculum Team Leaders and Apprenticeship Skills Tutors in practical workshop sessions. Report to the Curriculum Team Leader within the designated area on a day-to-day basis.
- Construction background and qualifications: A strong understanding of various aspects of Joinery and different specialist practices is essential. Technical proficiency in operating and maintaining workshop equipment and tools. Excellent problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and provide timely solutions. Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake), training in Health and Safety Principles and First Aid at Work (not essential). A Level 2 (or above) vocationally relevant qualification in a core discipline is also required.
