About the role
This SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice role is based in an SEND School in Sevenoaks for children with Visual impairment, hearing impairment and multi-sensory impairment as well as ASD, ADHD and some challenging behaviour. The students are between the ages of 2 to 19 and work at varying levels with specialist centers for students for PMLD and for those following the national curriculum and GCSEs and BETEC.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with SEND needs on a one-to-one basis or within small groups
- Assisting teachers in the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons
- Helping pupils with their educational, emotional, and behavioural development
- Preparing specialist classroom resources
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to staff and parents
Training and Workshops:
As part of your apprenticeship, you will complete specialist workshops designed to develop your expertise in SEND support, including:
- The SEND landscape in the UK
- Safeguarding in SEND
- Adaptive Curriculum Design
- Innovative Assessments for SEND pupils
- SEND Milestones and Strategies to Support Pupils
- Understanding Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia
- Responding to Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
- Supporting pupils with Speech, Language, and Communication needs
