About the role
This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our ambition to be exceptional. As a senior leader for Teaching, Learning and Quality, you will play a defining role in shaping the educational experience of our students and apprentices, ensuring that excellence, inclusion and innovation are embedded consistently across the College.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership for the quality of education, driving high standards in teaching, learning and assessment through robust quality assurance and impactful quality improvement. Working collaboratively with Curriculum Directors, Quality teams and professional services, you will ensure that curriculum delivery is coherent, inclusive and responsive and that all learners are supported to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Central to the role is the leadership of a strong quality culture. You will oversee the monitoring and evaluation of teaching and training through evidence-led systems, including lesson observations, learner and staff feedback, outcomes data and destination measures. You will lead the College’s divisional review process, champion best practice in observation and co-observation and ensure that quality improvement planning results in measurable and sustainable change.
You will act as Deputy Nominee for Ofsted inspections and provide leadership for awarding organisation audits, ensuring compliance while maintaining a positive and developmental approach to quality. Where concerns arise, you will work constructively with Curriculum Directors to intervene, support and strengthen provision.
Professional development is a core pillar of this role. You will design and lead a comprehensive CPD strategy aligned to the 2025 EIF (Education Inspection Framework) and sector best practice, promoting excellent pedagogy, strong subject knowledge and reflective classroom practice. From induction and mentoring through to teacher education and workforce development, you will help nurture talent, support new and transitioning staff and address performance issues with clarity, fairness and ambition.
Above all, you will be a visible champion for inclusive, personalised learning—removing barriers, promoting innovation and ensuring that every learner, regardless of background or starting point, benefits from a high-quality educational experience. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on people, practice and outcomes across the College.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced and inspirational educational leader who is passionate about teaching excellence, inclusive practice and continuous improvement across further education. You will bring credibility, energy and vision, combined with the professional confidence to lead change at pace and deliver measurable improvements in the quality of education.
You will be a qualified teacher (PGCE, Certificate in Education or QTS) with a strong commitment to your own ongoing professional development. You will possess a deep and current understanding of the FE sector and its complex challenges, alongside a proven ability to respond strategically and creatively to those challenges.
You will have a successful and sustained track record of improving teaching, learning and assessment through the design and implementation of robust quality systems and processes. Your experience will include in-depth knowledge of the Education Inspection Framework and its practical application within FE, supported by experience as a Nominee or Deputy Nominee during a successful Ofsted inspection, or as a practising Ofsted inspector.
You will demonstrate a detailed understanding of internal and external assessment and verification systems, ensuring compliance while maintaining a strong focus on learner experience and outcomes. Your approach to quality will be evidence-led, developmental and firmly focused on impact.
As a leader, you will be an innovator and motivator, able to inspire staff at all levels to embrace new thinking and strive for excellence. You will communicate with clarity and influence, building trust and credibility with colleagues, learners, external partners and stakeholders across the College. A strong belief in inclusivity will underpin everything you do, ensuring that education and training are accessible, equitable and ambitious for all learners.
You will be self-aware, resilient and confident, with high professional standards and the ability to remain effective under pressure. You will bring integrity, sound judgement and a personal leadership style that balances authority with approachability. Your strong negotiating and influencing skills will enable you to challenge constructively, secure buy-in and deliver against organisational objectives.
Above all, you will be a leader who can inspire high performance, motivate others and create a culture of continuous improvement, demonstrated through a proven track record of improving teaching quality and learner outcomes.
