Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role.
The Electrical IQA Assessor will lead on Internal Quality Assurance across all Electrical programmes, ensuring assessments are fair, consistent, and fully aligned with awarding body and industry standards. The role involves supporting and mentoring assessors, maintaining robust quality processes, and driving continuous improvement within the Electrical curriculum area.
Key responsibilities.
- Lead all Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activities for Electrical programmes.
- Mentor and support Electrical teaching staff and assessors.
- Develop, plan, and implement Quality Improvement Plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead standardisation meetings and conduct observations of teaching and assessment practice.
- Ensure assessment decisions are accurate and compliant with required documentation and protocols.
- Maintain and update sampling plans in line with College and awarding organisation requirements.
- Oversee IQA processes for synoptic assignments and centre‑assessed components.
- Coordinate and manage external quality assurance (EQA) visits, liaising with awarding bodies.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Faculty and Curriculum Managers to enhance assessment quality and consistency.
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
- Recognised assessor and IQA qualifications (e.g., TAQA, IQA Award or equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge and industry experience within Electrical Installation.
- Proven experience in Internal Quality Assurance within FE or a similar training environment.
- Ability to mentor, support and develop assessors and teaching staff.
- Excellent understanding of awarding body requirements and FE quality processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage sampling plans and meet deadlines.
- Confident communicator with the ability to lead standardisation and quality meetings.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
